'Our Mission Is Solely Executing' - How The Sudanese Brutal Fighting Force Conducted a Mass Killing
Warning: This Report Presents Graphic Details of Shootings.
Militiamen smirk as they ride on the rear of a transport truck, racing past a series of multiple dead bodies and heading facing the descending Sudanese sunset.
"See all this effort. Look at this instance of genocide," a fighter exclaims.
The individual beams as he points the camera on his person and his fellow militiamen, their paramilitary identification on display: "They are all going to be killed this way."
These individuals are rejoicing over a massacre that aid workers suspect resulted in the deaths of more than thousands of civilians in the Sudanese urban center of el-Fasher last month.
An Urban Center Severed from the Globe
Having held the urban area under siege for almost an extended period, from the summer the paramilitary force proceeded to consolidate its dominance and restrict the surviving inhabitants.
Orbital photography show that fighters commenced to build a massive berm - a built-up earthen wall - around the perimeter of al-Fashir, closing access routes and blocking humanitarian assistance.
While the blockade intensified, 78 people were slain in an RSF assault on a place of worship on mid-September, while the United Nations stated 53 more were murdered in drone and heavy weapon strikes on a refugee settlement in October.
Explicit Recording Depicts Defenseless Civilians Shot
At dawn on October 26th the RSF conquered the last military strongholds and captured the primary compound in the urban area, the command center of the Military Unit, as the government forces retreated.
Perhaps the most graphic recordings to surface and analysed depicted the aftermath of a massacre at a educational facility on the western side of the urban area, where numerous lifeless forms were observed scattered throughout the floor.
An older person dressed in a white tunic remained isolated amid the bodies. The individual looked to gaze as a fighter carrying with a rifle walked down the stairs facing the victim. Raising his rifle, the gunman fired a one round at the individual, who dropped to the floor still.
"Why is this individual still living," another militiaman cried. "Kill him."
Space-based imagery recorded on late October indicated to verify that killings were also performed on the streets of al-Fashir, according to a analysis published by the academic research center.
A key eyewitness who communicated stated the individual had seen "numerous of our kin getting executed - the victims were gathered in one place and each one killed."
RSF Officers Try to Implement Public Relations
In the days that followed the massacre, RSF leader conceded that his forces had carried out "violations" and said the occurrences would be investigated.
Among those arrested was subsequent to a investigation detailing his executions. Carefully orchestrated and produced video shared on the RSF's formal Telegram channel reveal the commander being led into a detention area at a detention facility on the edges of al-Fashir.
At the same time, the RSF and connected online accounts started seeking to reframe the story.
Updates showing its fighters handing out supplies to inhabitants were disseminated by various accounts, while the paramilitary's public relations unit shared multiple clips purporting to demonstrate the compassionate treatment of army prisoners of war.
In spite of the online initiative being used by the RSF, their actions in al-Fashir have provoked international condemnation.
