Citizens have gathered around the country to mark the second anniversary since the Hamas-conducted assault on October 7th, 2023, as talks continued in Egypt over an end to the conflict in Gaza.

The assault saw in excess of 1,200 people killed and 251 others abducted away to Gaza as captives. It was the most most fatal day for Jewish people since the World War II.

Israel responded by launching a defensive operation in Gaza which has taken in excess of 67,000 people, based on figures from the area's Hamas-administered health ministry. Its figures are considered reliable by the UN and other world agencies.

Negotiation Meetings in Egypt

Meanwhile, the conflicting parties' delegations met in the North African coastal city of Sharm el-Sheikh for a continuing round of indirect talks to examine the provisions of the agreement.

In the city's Hostages Square earlier, 29-year-old a woman - whose brother lived through the attack on the Nova music festival, where hundreds were killed and many more were abducted by Hamas gunmen - explained: "No location seems like home anymore and until each abducted person return none of us will have peace of mind."

"Once we see everybody home once more, we can feel relief again. Then we can commence rebuild," she added.

Near the prime minister's residence in the capital, people gathered to show their backing for the families of the captives. Israel reports nearly fifty remain in confinement in Gaza, twenty of whom are thought to be surviving.

Demonstrator Atalia Regev remarked: "We must do any agreement necessary for the hostages to come back home. But we sincerely need promises that we will be safe."

Surveys now regularly indicate that approximately 70% of the population prefer the conflict to conclude in as payment for the freedom of the hostages.

Palestinian Conditions

At the location of the music event, grieving people came together to honor the dead.

The medical facility in Gaza City announced it had received the bodies of half dozen people by the daytime, including three killed in an Israeli bombing in the south part area.
