Iran Reports Strike on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Regional Counterattacks.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone close to the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any damage is uncertain and the United States has not commented.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - said they have intercepted missiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That initial attack - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck locations associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump calling on the Iranian people to revolt against the leadership.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems responded to the missiles with notable success and shot down a series of missiles," it added.
It said debris fell on a neighborhood in the capital, causing some material damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
