Cars in German City Discovered Covered with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Officers stated they were alerted by a resident who discovered a car in Hanau smeared with reddish liquid

Roughly 50 vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a statement.

Officers say they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored liquid.

The substance had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Officers then discovered many other smeared cars and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Police say initial examinations show the substance was probably human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no clue as to its source; investigators are presently not cognizant of any harm in relation with the incident," they added.

Municipal representatives announced they were working "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the community for details.

An important political figure stated the attack left him speechless and had to be addressed promptly.

"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he wrote on social media, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a shooter targeting people of migrant background in February 2020.
