The United Kingdom is prepared to move forward with employing the entire amount of immobilized Russia's assets to bolster the Ukrainian war effort, PM Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a joint statement, the leaders of the United Kingdom, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany stated that this joint measure would increase strain on Moscow's head Vladimir Putin and compel the Russian Federation to engage in negotiations.

They added that the move would be carried out in tight collaboration with the United States.

UK restrictions have frozen over £25bn of Russian assets since Russia launched its comprehensive attack against Ukraine in 2022. However, up to this point, resources provided to the Ukrainian government using Russia's assets had exclusively been sourced from earnings and returns earned on them.

Sir Keir informed President Volodymyr Zelensky that the United Kingdom, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany were in agreement in their aim to drive progress toward using the total worth of the immobilized Russian sovereign funds to halt hostilities.

He stated that additional sanctions over the next period would heighten the tension on Moscow.

This statement comes after European Union officials gathered in Copenhagen previously to discuss employing immobilized Russian assets for a €140 billion financial aid to the Ukrainian nation.

Recently, US President Donald Trump urged G7 allies to take or employ immobilized Russian assets, based on media sources.

The value of seized Russian holdings in the European Union is assessed to be nearly €211bn.

Moscow carried out extensive aerial attacks all over the Ukrainian territory on Friday, resulting in blackouts in large parts of Kyiv, the city, and multiple additional areas.

In a update on X after the incident, Zelensky commented that the strategic strike focused on civilian and energy infrastructure.

"Every sanction decision undermines Moscow's military apparatus," Zelensky noted, in a different message.

Additionally that day, Zelensky stated to the press he would urge Sir Keir to participate in the PURL program, under which partner nations purchase military equipment from the United States to donate to Ukraine.

While commending the Britain's strong support for Kyiv, he said it should indicate firmly that it would engage in the program, as well as enforce additional measures on Moscow.
