Arne Slot Insists He Is Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support After PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot acknowledged that it was understandable for questions to be raised about his future after another heavy defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their 9th loss in 12 matches, representing the team's worst run since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I've received plenty of support from management,” the coach commented.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and secure a win obviously but if you are working as a coach and struggling then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I am OK with my position. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to provide details on his conversations with the club's leadership, Slot revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they don't phone me constantly of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “During our regular exchanges I perceive the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them since this match so far so we'll see.”

Familiar Problems and Player Reaction

The manager lamented known shortcomings from his squad in their European loss, namely poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” Jones said.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I play for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen Liverpool for years.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a spell like this with performances like these.”

He stated, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our chest. And as long as it is removed, we’re always going to fight.”

“We’re going to try to help the side return to its rightful place, demonstrate to all once more what this club is about and why it's known as the greatest side in the planet.”

“At this moment, things are bad and it must improve.”
